Horticultural Therapy is the participation in garden or plant-based activities with the assistance of a trained Horticultural Therapist (HTR) in order to achieve certain emotional, mental, cognitive, or physical goals. In other words - plants can make you feel better!
What is a horticultural therapy session?
A horticultural therapy session would involve:
- Setup and clean up of the activity
- Enough supplies to complete a garden or nature based activity for each person in the group
- One hour per session
- A chance to converse as a group in a friendly setting
Who can participate?
Anyone can! Wild Greens serves anyone! Populations that can especially benefit from horticultural therapy include: elderly, people living with developmental disabilities, veterans, people receiving assistance from rehab centers, caregivers, people who have been through trauma, and anyone that may need to reconnect with nature.
